Come On In! The Door's Always Open!
Welcome to our first grade classroom! Here, a classroom of six and seven year olds, work together daily in a happy, welcoming, and motivating environment to ensure their days at school are meaningful and fun. First grade is a big year – my goal is to make a contribution that lasts a lifetime.
Take a Peek!
My students enter each morning to our sunny classroom by their own desks, supplies, and colorful walls. First grade is a year of transition for many of my students – there is no longer a nap time or centers filled with kitchen play sets or sandboxes. First graders in my classroom explore so many milestones in academics and constantly amaze me in their skills. My students are energetic, kind, and always excited, making my job as their teacher one of much importance and joy.

Field Trip to Jet's Pizza
To inspire us with our own how-to writing, first graders take a field trip to Jet's pizza where they learn how to make pizza dough, how to make a pizza, and how to cut a pizza. We even enjoy our own pizza lunch! Yum! New Plants Unit
First graders love our last science unit, New Plants. Each student gets to grow their own grass and brassica from seed to fully blossomed plant! Students care for their plants and recognize a plant's needs. End of the Year Party
We celebrate the end to a year of great growth with a field trip to Hunt's Gym and a family picnic back at school. Students love playing at the gymnastics club where they bounce, swing, and run through different obstacle courses. Our picnic back at school is the last first grade event where students are joined by family members on the front lawn. |
