About Me
"Anna Collins embodies all that an elementary teacher should be; to her students, she is an extraordinary leader who demonstrates the perfect balance of enthusiasm, patience, and structure; to parents, she is a willing partner who champions the success of each student." - Laura Nealssohn, First Grade Parent
My name is Miss Anna Collins and I live in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. I attended Grosse Pointe Public Schools and am happy to have returned to the classroom as a teacher! It was in this very school district where I knew I was born to be a teacher. So many of my play dates with friends included reenacting the math lesson from school that day or grading spelling tests with my own red pen. I have always admired all my teachers, especially the teachers that filled up my elementary experience. It’s amazing to think of how much each teacher influenced me and what a positive impact they’ve had on my life. I knew that I wanted to be a part of that in someone else’s life in my professional career. |
"Anna is an engaging and energetic educator who creates an environment that makes learning fun for kids!" - Lisa Rheaume, Fifth Grade TeacherWorking with children each day is so rewarding. I have found that my excitement is contagious and I try to create a classroom environment where students are motivated and engaged in daily lessons. This can be challenging in today’s world where children can become over stimulated with all the new technologies that are available to them. With each new year I am constantly trying to better my instruction so each child experiences success. This was something I especially focused on during one of my courses in the problem of practice work which can be found here.

When I'm Not Teaching
I have loved the metro Detroit area so much that I never planted roots any other place so far. That being said, I do love to take advantage of teacher summer vacations and enjoy what this great state has to offer. I’ve spent time in St. Joseph, Grand Rapids, traveling to the U.P. and I love taking trips to visit my sister in Petoskey. During some of our school year breaks, my family and I would take annual trips to Florida. My older brother lived in Pensacola for a while but we’re all so happy to have welcomed him home last year. It was a nice place to visit but it's even better to have us all back in the mitten!
I enjoy baking recipes old and new (thanks, Pinterest!), which is usually followed by going to the gym. Fortunately, all my baked goods don’t usually last very long as I take them either to school for the staff to enjoy as a surprise treat or I drop it off at my old part time job just down the road. |
"She loves each child and connects with their interests! Her fun loving spirit and team player mentality make her a valuable part of our school's community." - Gina Green, Second Grade Teacher |
What's Next?
I’m so excited to announce that I got engaged to my first grade sweetheart. It has been a fun journey to know someone since childhood and share such similar memories as we grew up. We are very excited to officially begin our lives together and will be getting married July 8, 2017. So long to Miss Collins and hello to Mrs. Court!
